CKS Warta retained a share of first place in the Champions Division after manhandling Czarny Dunajec 7:2 last Friday. Following a shock defeat to Berber Stars in Week 3, Warta used their bye week to regroup and beat up on Dunajec in convincing fashion.
Dunajec went into the lead after a defensive miscue, but Warta equalized through Juan De La Cruz shortly thereafter. Dunajec went 2:1 up after converting a power play opportunity, but Warta responded with three unanswered goals from Arturo Garza, de la Cruz, and Adrian Ortiz to take a 4:2 lead into the break.
Three second-half strikes by Warta put the result in the bag. William Butler, Luis Adame, and Giovanni Ortiz all found the back of the net, as Warta asserted their dominance. Adame and Butler are tied for second-most goals in the Champions Division, netting five apiece.
Warta currently share the top spot with Albanian Stars and Vikings AA. The logjam may get broken in Round 6, as Warta and Albanian Stars square off in a top-of-the-table clash.
