CKS Warta advanced to the semifinals of the NSL playoffs on Monday with an incredible 2:1 victory over Vikings AA. Warta scored the game-winner in the 81st minute, despite being down to nine players following two red cards.
The Vikings took the lead just 38 seconds into the match, taking advantage of a Warta mistake and firing a long shot past goalkeeper Rodolfo Gonzalez before he had even broken a sweat.
Warta pressed for an equalizer and created several great chances, but were unable to get through the Vikings defensive wall.
Warta began to take control in the second half, dominating possession and creating constant pressure. The equalizer appeared at hand in the 49th minute, but a Vikings defender cleared the ball off the line after a corner kick.
Luis Adame leveled the affair in the 54th minute when he headed home a corner kick.
Warta were reduced to nine players when two players were issued second yellow cards, shifting their tactics to a defend-and-counter approach. Warta's opportunity in the 81st minute, when Adrian Ortiz fired past the diving keeper from a tough angle to make it 2:1.
Warta will face RWB Adria in their semifinal match on October 4.
