Vikings AA climbed the table on Thursday night, beating up on Stare Byki FC 6:3 at Hawthorne. The match was played at a furious pace, as Vikings kept the Byki in chase mode for much of the contest.
The home side made a statement early, finding the back of the net three times in the first 11 minutes. Vikings' superior speed beat the Byki defense decisively on two of the tallies. The third came from the penalty spot.
The Byki started their comeback bid in the 19th minute, when Erik Yamane redirected a loose ball into the net following a goalmouth scramble that resulted from a well-placed corner kick.
The score went to 3:2 in the 65th minute. Byki winger Byron Perez slammed a shot off of the near post and past Vikings goalkeeper Jose Castillo.
Vikings reasserted control of the contest with a pair of goals seven minutes apart to take a 5:2 lead.
The Byki earned a penalty two minutes from the end, converted by Francesco de Felice, and Vikings wrapped up the scoring with a slick goal in stoppage time.
