FC Guadalarja notched their first win of the season, defeating Dundalk FC 6:2 at Spring Rock Park on Sunday.
Guadalajara wasted little time putting the pressure on Dundalk, creating multiple scoring opportunities within the first couple of minutes. They finally broke through the Dundalk defense with a long ball over the top for their pacy striker, who rounded goalkeeper Caio Cesar to finish into an empty net. Once the first goal went in, the floodgates opened and two more goals followed soon after.
Dundalk started brightly in the second half, but their pressure didn't last long, and Guadalajara were back on the scoresheet after another long ball over the top beat the Dundalk defense to make it 4:0.
Guadalajara made it 5:0 when they converted a penalty kick. Dundalk centerback Gregg Fairley was sent off for denying a scoring opportunity in the box. Guadalajara increased the margin to 6:0 shortly thereafter.
Dundalk engineered a comeback after a Guadalajara player received his second caution. Dundalk's leading goalscorer Luciano Quadros bagged two goals, giving him four tallies in three games.
