10    Sinan Salmani, RWB Adria – 12/29/03 (1.6 MB)

Sinan Salmani opens the year’s “Top Goals List” with his long-range power-play goal that was rifled into the bottom corner of the net. The goal was one of a handful of great goals on the year by the left-footed finisher from RWB Adria, who had his season cut short due to injury, but was nonetheless an inspiration in their second-place finish.

9    Justin Dugena, Winged Bull - 12/29/03 (2.6 MB)

Not to be outdone by the previous goal on the list, Justin Dugena provided his own power-play highlight with a high-powered shot against FC Romania. Danny Yonan started the play by dropping a pass to an unmarked Dugena, who took one step and let fly to goalkeeper’s far post.

8    Ahmed Kazouini, Jerusalem Jets – 01/23/04 (1.8 MB)

The captain of the always flashy Jerusalem Jets, Ahmed Kazouini is no stranger to precise finishes. The Moroccan-born forward capped off a brilliant sequence of team passing by striking his shot to the far post and out of the goalkeeper’s reach.

7    CJ Bachmann, Winged Bull – 03/07/04 (3.2 MB)

CJ Bachmann, the former Loyola University standout, began a magical night for Winged Bull on the NSL’s playoff Sunday when his goal helped defeat CKS Warta in the semi-finals. The speedy forward pulled a cheeky step-over before blasting a left-footed, far-post bomb.

6    Cristian Crisan, Wisla SAC – 01/30/04 (3.1 MB)

Goalkeeper Jakub Bortnik of Wisla SAC started the play by laying the ball off to his left where the Polish club’s midfielders worked a sweet one-two, leaving the ball to Tomasz Wroton. Wisla SAC’s captain went on to play a fantastic pass off of the wall to an unmarked Cristian Crisan, who cracked a one-time volley past the helpless goalkeeper.

5    Awadallah Morad, Winged Bull – 01/09/04 (3.8 MB)

No stranger to our weekly highlight list throughout this past indoor season, Top Scorer Awadallah Morad managed to turn heads every week with his individual efforts on the pitch. Shown here is the Palestinian’s one-two off the wall and back to himself that proved to be the game-winning goal against RWB Adria.

4    Adis Uzeijrovic, BH Lilies – 01/02/04 (1.8 MB)

One of the most entertaining players in the National Soccer League, Adis Uzejrovic provided us with a more extensive version of the give-and-go off the wall than what Morad did on the goal before. With just a few seconds left in the match against CKS Warta, Uzejrovic made a few players dizzy before playing the ball off the boards and back to himself, and then firing his shot low and past the goalkeeper.

3    Lukasz Zukowski, CKS Warta – 01/02/04 (2.0 MB)

Lukasz Zukowski emerged to be of the NSL’s Top Newcomers this season, and goals like the one shown here proved to be a big reason why. In a battle of two of the top teams in the Major Division, Zukowski managed to flick a ball a ball in the air to himself with his back to the goal before turning his defender and one-timing his shot past the goalkeeper. The goal is one of a handful of fantastic finishes that Zukowski netted this season, as you could tell by our foreign-based commentator who managed to speak all the words that simply translated to “nice goal”.

2    Traian Maier, CKS Warta – 02/27/04 (3.8 MB)

The aforementioned Lukasz Zukowski turns from scorer to provider on our “Top Goals of the Year” list. Against Outlanders SC, Zukowski spearheaded his team’s counterattack and found Traian Maier open on the far right. The Romanian game-breaker fired a one-timed shot that echoed around the stadium before nearly ripping through the back of the net.

1    Awadallah Morad, Winged Bull – 01/30/04 (2.8 MB)

There cannot be any doubt about this one. Winged Bull’s Awadallah Morad’s creative run and finish against CKS Warta was certainly the best goal of the indoor season. Morad collected the loose ball at midfield and turned into high gear as he blasted past the CKS Warta defense. To cap off the run, Morad (look closely or replay it now if you have to) hit an opposite-footed shot from the left side that surprised everyone in the stadium, including the helpless goalkeeper. The goal proved to be a fine finish to a fine season of Major Division Highlights this past year. The National Soccer League hopes you enjoyed our weekly round-up of highlights, and look for even more for advances and surprises next year!
